“Help others achieve their dreams and you will achieve yours”
Volunteering at B.A.S.I.C.S International has been described as a life-changing experience, providing you with a chance to make a truly positive impact on the lives of the children in Chorkor, as well as discover and experience a community bursting with life and culture.
What kind of work will I do?
Volunteers work at Nana’s House which is a multipurpose center and a safe haven for the children of Chorkor, which means you do not need a teaching degree to volunteer with us; all you need is enthusiasm, determination, and mosquito spray! The children who attend “Nana’s House II” are sponsored to go to their local Ghanaian school through our BACK2SCHOOL program, and then attend Nana’s House II to engage in after school activities.
Our after school program is an intervention program, ensuring that each child stays in school. Each activity is created to mentor, stimulate and motivate the children to continue their education and break the cycle of illiteracy.
Volunteering at Nana’s House will include tutoring students with the homework they have received from their school teachers, expanding on their curriculum at their local school, and introducing them to creative learning, such as art, music, dance and sport. Volunteers will not only tutor but will be mentors to the children. The students at BASICS each have a story to tell, so it is our job to inspire and encourage them to work hard and shoot for the stars!
We welcome anyone from any background with a hobby, skill or passion in any area to help with the growth of the individuals at BASICS.
